Veteran economist Gary Shilling, known for accurately predicting the 1969-70 recession, is warning that the United States may be heading toward another major economic downturn by the end of 2026. Shilling points to several troubling indicators, including a frozen housing market, weakening consumer spending, and a sharp slowdown in corporate investment. He also warned that stock prices remain dangerously elevated and suggested a market correction of 20 to 30 percent would not be unusual by historical standards.
Israel contrasts Christian growth with regional decline as suspects take cover in Bethlehem church
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar stated this week that Israel remains the only country in the Middle East where the Christian population is continuing to grow. Speaking alongside Germany’s foreign minister in Berlin, Sa’ar noted that Israel’s Christian population has increased from roughly 34,000 in 1950 to more than 188,000 today. He contrasted that growth with the broader regional decline of Christian communities across the Middle East, pointing specifically to Bethlehem, which he said has shifted from being approximately 85% Christian in the past to around 10% today under Palestinian Authority governance.

Turkey has unveiled what it describes as its first intercontinental ballistic missile, marking a major escalation in the country’s military ambitions and signaling a new phase in the regional arms race. London’s Metropolitan Police on Wednesday announced the creation of a special unit to protect Jews following a spate of hate attacks amid growing antisemitism.
The Met said the new “community protection team” will initially comprise 100 extra officers and combine neighborhood policing with “specialist protection and counterterrorism capabilities.”
It will provide “a more visible, intelligence‑led and coordinated presence focused on protecting” London’s Jewish communities, the force said in a statement.
